If you follow me on twitter and facebook you will have seen that over the last few months I have been going to the Anstice Hall in Madeley for the Antiquity Vintage Fairs. The Hall is a hidden gem, one of the oldest working men’s clubs in the country it looks very much like a typical old building, it’s only when you go upstairs to the ballroom do you realise how amazing the hall really is.
Again the lovely Col or @RollerColster if you are on twitter was on hand to take picture of all the stall holders’ products. I’ve added some pictures below of my stand, some of Grandmas’ Attic (my neighbours in Shrewsbury Market Hall) and the general location.
The summer holidays have just started and the Market Hall in Shrewsbury has come alive with lots of great activities!
This weekend see’s the Bird’s Nest Vintage Flea Market, a 3 day event organised by The Birds Nest, show casing fantastic local vintage wares and bands. I always make sure the Toot Sweets shop is filled with an array of retro sweets, delicate handmade macaroons, and scrummy chocolates!
Coming up this Wednesday (3rd of August) I’ll also be doing something else very exciting within the Market Hall. As some of you will know from my previous blogs Compost Kids, run my artist Sam Pooley is a gallery/ workshop based just around the corner from Toot Sweets. Sam runs regular Art classes for Toddlers, but over the summer she will be offering a range of different classes for all age groups.
On Wednesday I will be helping her run a class looking at Picasso, we’ll be making cubist inspired lolly pops and painting with chocolate (you can eat your artwork!)
The class is open for 8-15year olds; it costs £10.00 and starts at 3pm.
If you are interested in booking a place please contact Sam on 07531 824561 or email Julia: firstname.lastname@example.org
Following on from the delicious cupcake recipe I posted the other day I have added some dates to our events list. Many of our customers enjoy making their own cupcakes, but they always say they haven’t managed to perfect the decorating side.
At Valentines we ran a special cupcake evening for Single Ladies and this Wednesday and next Wednesday we are running classes again.
Julia will show you how she prepares her cupcake mix, how to make a simple butter cream and how to add flavours or colours. You’ll then be given 6 delicious cupcakes to decorate in any way you fancy; using butter cream, chocolate decorations, sweets, glitter and icing cut into shapes.
We’ll be serving Cosmo’s as a little treat and Julia will be on hand to help you and give you tips. You’ll then be able to wrap up your cupcakes and take them home!

Last weekend we visited the NEC in Birmingham to display our Wedding Favour range. We had a small stand as we’ve never exhibited at the show before.
Like most events at the NEC the exhibiting halls was full of people- excited brides, friends and family.
As well as promoting our favours we wanted to promote our website, chocolates, fudge and retro sweets. As you can see from the pictures below our stand was jam packed with loveliness.
We love making Wedding Favours and it was so nice to take part in a 3 day event aimed at Brides. Every Wedding is different even if people have the same colour schemes there will be at least one element that is different. Speaking to every Bride is an exciting experience and it certainly gets our creative juices following!
